Using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing) allows our practice to construct, produce and insert your custom ceramic crowns directly at the point of treatment, chairside in our office. The CEREC process involves taking a digital impression which, can be done through digital scanning or digital radiographs. The crown is then designed on our computer using the digital impression and a 3-D model is made. Our office manufactures the tooth-colored crown on a 3-d printer or CNC milling machine. Using CEREC technology our office can prepare the tooth, take the digital impression, construct the crown and insert it all in one appointment. This saves follow-up visits making the process more convenient for our patients and eliminating the need for temporary crowns. Most of our patients find the digital impressions more comfortable than sitting through traditional impressions.
